Our standard lead time for drawers and drawer inserts is 1-2 weeks. 

We offer soft maple, white oak, and walnut as standard wood types, with more solid wood options on request.

All of our products are fully custom, made to order.

 We ship anywhere in the country. There are two main ways to significantly reduce shipping costs:

• Place a large order or series of orders we can palletize (10-15+ drawers)
• We provide local delivery within ~90 miles of Methuen, MA

A dovetail drawer is a cabinet drawer built using dovetail joinery, a woodworking technique where wedge-shaped cuts interlock the sides for strength and durability. These joints resist pulling apart, which makes them a top choice for long-lasting, high-quality cabinetry.

The most common dovetail drawer is:

• Half-blind dovetail: joints are hidden on the drawer front, giving a clean exterior look.

Other dovetail drawer types include:

• Through dovetail: visible interlocking joints on the front and side panels, showing traditional craftsmanship.
• Sliding dovetail: a rail-and-slot variation used when extra strength or assembly flexibility is needed.

The English dovetail style, which is the style Eagle Woodworking produces, features interlocking joints, which provide greater sturdiness: the key benefit of dovetail drawers. Another benefit of this style is increased storage space.

Yes! The interlocking dovetail joints make dovetail drawers exceptionally strong and long-lasting. 

Hardwoods like maple, white oak, and walnut are often used for dovetail drawers because they hold the joint tightly and resist wear. Maple is especially popular for its balance of durability and smooth finish.

Yes. We build to the nearest 1/16″, with heights ranging from 2″ to 12″ (taller boxes incur an additional charge) and widths/depths from 4″ to 72″. Simply provide final dimensions that account for slide hardware requirements, clearances, and box thickness. Custom sizing applies to all standard boxes and specialty configurations, including U-shaped layouts.

Eagle Woodworking dovetail drawers are compatible with undermount and ball-bearing side-mount slides. For undermount slides, drawers can be notched at the rear (typically a 2″ notch) to ensure compatibility with common undermount slide systems (such as Blum), allowing the slide hooks and clips to engage properly. 

When selecting slides, consider load rating, drawer depth, and width to ensure smooth operation. Heavier drawers or wider spans may require higher-rated hardware. Eagle Woodworking determines the correct slide length and quantity based on your selected hardware and drawer dimensions to ensure proper fit and performance.

To preserve the durability and finish of dovetail drawers, avoid excessive moisture or prolonged exposure to water, particularly in bathroom or kitchen environments. Periodically check slide hardware for proper function to prevent wear on the drawer box. Clean the wood surfaces gently with a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the lacquer finish. Proper care helps maintain joint integrity and smooth operation over time.
